There are a number of varients of this workshop being used in universities at the moment:
A half day workshop on lecturing skills followed by the participants delivering a the first 20 minutes of a lecture and receiving feedback and a DVD of their session. Due to the nature of thses sessions only 8 participants per workshop can be accomodated. This varient is used to good effect by Cardiff University
A full day workshop without the participant practice and feedback. This option is used by many universities including Reading and Essex.
A two day workshop for up to 16 participants. Each day comprises of a half day workshop followed by a series of 20 minute mini lectures by the participants who receive feedback and a dvd of their practice. What we find is the participants extend their learning by watching others give their lectures. This option is particularly popular at the Medical Sciences Division at Oxford University.
